เมื่อวันอาทิตย์ที่ 28 กุมภาพันธ์ที่ผ่านมามีงานใหญ่งานนึงสำหรับชาว Visual Effects โดยเฉพาะ ซึ่งจัดขึ้นที่ Hyatt Regency Century Plaza Hotel ใน Los Angeles? งานนั้นก็คือ Visual Effects Awards นั่นเองครับ ซึ่งนับว่าจัดเป็นครั้งที่ 8 แล้ว สำหรับ VES Awards นั่นไม่เพียงแต่จำกัดอยุ่เฉพาะในวงการภาพยนตร์ แต่รวมไปถึงทั้งวงการโฆษนา โทรทัศน์ มิวสิควีดีโอ อนิเมชั่น และเกมด้วย
แน่นอนว่าตัวเต็งย่อมหนีไม่พ้นมหาภาพยนตร์อย่าง Avatar เป็นที่จับตามองมากที่สุดโดยถูกเสนอชื่อเข้าชิงกว่า 11 รางวัลตามมาด้วย Coraline 4 รางวัล ส่วนสตูดิโอที่มีชื่อเข้าชิงมากที่สุดถึง 9 รางวัลก็คือ Weta Digital
